For Mike Vale's 12/21/2004 query, Following is the info from Lydia Anne Vale Leffler's 1913 book "The Genealogy of the Vale and Garretson Descendants." This lists only the children of Jacob Vale and his second wife, Catherine Jones. I'm assuming Alonzo Columbus Vale was a child of Jacob's first wife, Olivia McCarty. "Jacob Vale, son of John, son of Robert Vale, married first, Olivia McCarty; second Catherine Jones. Jacob Vale was born the sixth month, third day, 1808; died the eleventh month, twenty-eighth day, 1880; married the tenth month, ninth day, 1850, Catherine Jones." Their children: John Franklin, b. Jan. 22, 1855; mar. Iona Shaw. Caroline M., b. Apr. 8, 1857; mar. Daniel Woodley. Erastus A., b. Jan. 17, 1859; "married December 26, Alice Smith." Jacob C., b. Mar. 22, 1860. Clara E., b. Oct. 11, 1862; mar. Dec. 9, 1886, Charles Morris Minnie R., b. May 24, 1865; mar. July 26, 1883, Charles Shaw; 2nd. "July 14, 1812" (prob. should be 1912) James C. Stout. Elizabeth C., b. Oct. 11, 1867; mar. Feb. 19, 1896, Ira C. Walton. William E., b. Dec. 5, 1869; mar. July 26, 1902, Iris Kinsey. "The widow of Jacob Vale, Mrs. Catherine Jones Vale of Pekin, Illinois, is still living. Their children have in their possession a silver brooch which was owned and worn by Robert Vale."
