Honor Careys On 50th Wedding Day Sunday, August 23, 1942, relatives and friends gathered at the Friends church basement here in Earlham to help Alva and Minnie Carey celebrate their Golden Wedding. It was a beautiful day, and by one o'clock all were there with well filled baskets and dinner was soon served. A large golden and white wedding cake, was in the center of a long table. The cake was presented by their daughter, Valma Coulter and grandchildren Mr. and Mrs Wendell Wright. The bride and groom sat facing the cake, with the guests on each side of the table, two smaller tables were used in serving. Rev. Wilson returned Thanks for the blessing of the day. A short program was given, beginning with songs of praise; " I Love to Tell the Story", "At the Cross", "He Keeps me Smiling", were the songs used: Laurence Cook played the piano. And thank their friends for the many rememberances.
