Bryon Hoffman: Installment I: First Off: I am a of the Quaker MENDENHALLs & Allied Families of Philadelphia & Delaware Area and many of my line migrated to Guilford County, North Carolina. Your surnames, TUCKNISS seems to "ring a bell". Anyway, I'll check those Quakers out!. There is a transcriber of Quaker Minutes for Maryland -- two books, I belive by the same author, PEDDY. I will check on it the next time that I go to the St. Mary's County Library, Leonardtown, MD. (We moved to Southern Maryland and live in Histoarical St. Mary's County, Maryland's first colony, 1634, the Arc & the Dove, under Lord Baltimore ( a title) held by the CALVERTs of/from England -- and were Catholics. The Calverts set up a fedual system of governing and land acquisition, etc. The first Overseers for the Calverts were Henry & John Darnall,. one of which was married to a Calvert. A "Kinfolk of Henry & John": The Edward Darnall, came as a Indenturded Servant and then did very well, indeed. Well, I descend from this Edward Darnall with his grandson being my John Darnall md Mary Ann McDanniel, both of Port Tobacco, Calvert Co., MD>Fredrick Co., MD>Washington Co., PA and finally to Montgomery Co., KYon a Rev. War Grant Land .) Go to the QUAKER-ROOTS Archives for threaded messages: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/QUAKER-ROOTS And search Fall 2004 messages for this authour was listed not only by me but also by another subscriber, who found 2 different books, while I had found only one. FOUND IT" http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/QUAKER-ROOTS/2004-11/1100540123 From: "Paul Hatcher" < PaulHatcher@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [Q-R] book-Quaker Records from Maryland Date: Mon, 15 Nov 2004 12:35:23 -0500 Hi Gang One source is the following two books: "Quaker Records of Northern Maryland", Births, Deaths, Marriages and Abstracts from Minutes, 1716 - 1800, by Henry C. But I shall send out more, which I used in response to another Query -- I had had to think as I went along. My husband was with the USDA and we lived in Fairfax County, Virginia and then in the Philadelphia suburbs, PA. After retirement we moved to Illinois and recently returned to the general area to live in Southern Maryland. A Second Installment will follow and will go to the entire Q-R List.
