I've read with interest all the information about the BOONE family. One of my ancestors was Jacob BOONE, who lived in Centre County, PA. He died there in 1830. I don't know his wife's name, but he had a daughter, Barbara, who married John Sherk about 1790. Harry Glossner sent me some good information about Jacob's will and his descendants, but didn't know anything about Jacob's parents or siblings. I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to find out how they fit into the BOONE family. I found a Jacob Boone who was born about 1744 in Berks Co., PA and died at Boone's Mill, VA in 1814, but I'm quite sure he is NOT the right Jacob Boone. Does anyone know anything about a Jacob BOONE who stayed in PA? Dolly Yates
Comment -- I am descended from the Jacob Boone who died at Boone's Mill, VA, on March 17, 1814. A book about the Boone family edited by a Hazel Spraker, is a principal source for the contention that this Jacob Boone was born in Berks Co, PA and therefore related to the British Boones. However, I believe this connection has now been generally discounted. The Jacob Boone who died at Boone's Mill was the son of Johann Diehl Bohne (also Boone or Bone) who came from the Palatines in 1741 to Philadelphia and soon moved down to Frederick County, Maryland. Johann's will mentions Jacob and there is a later indication that Jacob in Franklin County, VA had come from Maryland.
