I came across a post on the Battey Family Forum dated 10/23/2001, by a Clarence Smith, in which he states that he is editing a set of Smith Family letters, covering the years 1853 to 1903, which trace their migration from Vermont, to Collins, Erie Co., NY, and then to Springville, Iowa. Is anyone familar with this project and/or know how to contact Clarence Smith? Edsel Burdge Jr. 1593 Pinola Road Shippensburg, PA 17257
We have an interesting smith connection to the Stacey family which goes way back, in fact the mother of Raymond Burr, known publicly as Perry Mason was a smith. I found a picture of a home in the East belonging to Stacey/Smith which may have been her family home at one time. Does anyone know of the Smith-Burr connection. Some of our English staceys were quakers and some came to America. I do not know about Canada or what religion Raymond Burr followed. I also do not know how he got his middle name, William Stacy which was the same as my great grandfather's name. On Apr 2, 2005 7:57 AM, Edsel B. Bill Taber, an acknowledged minister of Stillwater Monthly Meeting, died yesterday. He suffered severely with cancer for several months. Arrangements are being made today. Bill was active with many Friends activities, including most recently the School of the Spirit. In addition to the funeral at Stillwater, I am hoping to have some kind of memorial service in the Philadelphia area. Please contact me off-list if thee would like to attend, and I will contact thee with the details. Seth
