    1. Heirs of Alfred Jacob Re Fons Vitae
    2. To Whom It May Concern: I am requesting information about the heirs of Alfred B. Jacob (1889-1980).  Dr. Jacob taught Romance Languages at University of Pennsylvania and Franklin & Marshall.  During the Spanish Civil War he was in charge of child feeding in the northeast region for the Friends Service Council of London My immediate purpose is to request copy permission for Professor Jacob's translation of Solomon Ibn Gabirol's Fountain of Life (Fons Vitae) which he prepared before his death in 1980 and which was published by the Sabian Publishing Society in Stanwood, Washington.  Professor Jacob's is the only complete translation of this philosophical classic in English, and would be of inestimable value to scholars if made more widely available.  I would be prepared to invest the labor for this purpose without remuneration or intent to profit financially.  I am planning to teach a class on this work in Fall, 2005. The biographical note on Professor Jacob in the book notes that his daughter was publications manager for the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of Friends. Leonard Levin 356 Redmond Rd.
