    3. I have now finished putting the Birth section of the Society of Friends Register for Pardshaw [TNA RG6 1026] online at: http://www.rumbutter.net/gen-cumb-res-pard-home/ [you will need to register or log in] Pardshaw in Cumberland was one the largest Quaker communities in England, between Swarthmoor to the south and Holm Cultram to the north. This register covers the central area of the community (equivalent approximately to the C of E parishes of Brigham, Dean, Lamplugh and Loweswater). It includes the meeting house/place at Pardshaw and Pardshaw Crag and the burial grounds at Eaglesfield and Greysouthen; but not other meetings. It is the original home for many Quakers who went to Ireland or to the American colonies. The online register consists of images provided by permission of The National Archives. Only some pages have been transcribed [so only those will turn up in the site's search engines], but volunteers who want to transcribe are always welcome. Simply add your transcription as a comment on the relevant page - this will automatically get into the search engine. Rum Butter is my personal blog site. It includes a member-only section about Cumberland (also accessible as http://www.cumberland.info). This is free and non-commercial; but, in order to access the Cumberland contents, you will need to register. Chris Dickinson
