I branch off with Mahlon Preston's sister, Deborah PRESTON, who married Seymour COATES in 1805. I am curious what the original source is for the spelling of Jane DEYN's surname. Many years ago I looked at the Brighouse Monthly Meeting Minutes which are at the University of Leeds library and her name was spelt as DAY on a number of occasions. Here is what I transcribed from those records: _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 29th 4th mo 1698 Brighouse MM - Wm Preston publishing his intentions of marriage with Jane Day John ?owyor? & Rich'd Hanson to enquire into his clearness. 29th 5th mo 1698 Brighouse MM - At the Monthly Meeting at Mankinholes (Friends Meeting House) Wm Preston the 2nd time published his intentions of marriage to Jane Day and both being found clear they are left to accomplish the same when they soe meet. Rob't Walker & John Cooper to attend the same. 4th or 14th 6mo 1698 Brighouse MM - William Preston and Jane Day married. 26th 6th mo 1698 Brighouse MM - R't Walker & Jno Cooper give acc'nt of the ?????? accomplishment of Wm Prestons marriage. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ - Ed
