    3. Sally: (Re: National Society Descendants of Early Quakers) I certainly didn't mean to be vague or not answer questions (they've been coming quite rapidly) and I thought I had answered the best I knew how. Let me address your concerns, if I can. There are no meetings in Washington state (only Washington, DC) and I have never been to one of their meetings. The $200 Lifetime amount and the $35 application fee total $235. I resigned, in good standing, from the DAR so am not sure what their ANNUAL dues are now, but if I had maintained my membership which would have begun about 1980, I can only assume that the total would be more than the $235 total for the Quaker organization. Just making a point on this. To my knowledge, they do not maintain a web-site. I could be wrong about this - just to my knowledge they don't. The membership in the NSDEQ is not large wherein the DAR is what I would call very large. This translates into more dues for more of everything. I can only repeat that I joined in 1986 to honor my Quaker ancestors in this way. Everyone has their own reason for the societies they join - that was mine. I also am a Charter member of the Descendants of Early Colonists and, for some time, belonged to many others. Decisions I made on an individual basis. If I can answer anything else, I will try my best. I'm just a bit surprised that so few even knew about it. I guess when you have limited funds it is hard to become too public and maybe this is even in keeping with the way the Quakers did their business. Just a guess.
