Before you read my final response to the Dec. of Early Quakers, may I suggest that we all take a few minutes and send the quaker-roots list our own list of Quaker ancestors. I'm just a member of the Descendants of Early Quakers and, as I mentioned, their objectives are: a. To promote historical research. b. To promote scholarly efforts toward the preservation of family documents and record of the SOCIETY OF FRIENDS c. To promote appreciation and recognition of the accurate and extensive family records kept by the SOCIETY OF FRIENDS" How the propose to or attain these objectives, I do not know. However, you can contact them for further information. I'm afraid that I am not doing anything active with this organization. I have belonged to so many during the years that it now time to let the younger generation step up to the plate. I still very active with our local Spokane Genealogical Society and that keeps me as busy as I want to be at this point. I think we all have organizations that we maintain active on and others that we just financially support through our membership dues. Hope this answers all the questions. There may be more questions but I have no more answers. Of course you certainly don't need to feed it necessary to join any organization to continue to research your own families - that, for me, will only end when I do. Ruby in Spokane

We might also want to pursue the Welcome Society - which includes not only the Welcome, but all the other ships that carried our early ancestors. I know NOTHING about this except for the data at the website http://www.welcomesociety.org/ but it has been around for 100+ years. However from a brief look at the web site, it does not seem to be very active right now either, as "current" photos are 6 years old.
