I am a 9th generation direct descendent of Robert EYRE, b: 30 Jan 1648/49 and settled in Bethel twp, Chester (now Delaware) county, PA. Books regarding Robert EYRE as early as the mid 1800s state that Robert EYRE was not a Quaker but that many of his descendents were. All known EYRE descendents descend thru his son, William EYRE who md: Mary DAVID and who was definitely an active Quaker. I've since come across some early records that might indicate that Robert EYRE was a Quaker. All research has indicated that he apprenticed under William ROGERS, a merchant of Bristol, who was a known, active Quaker. 1] "A difference between Jacob CHANDLER and Robert EYRE referred to Nicholas NEWLIN, Wm BRAUTON, Nathaniel PARKE & George PIERCE At Philip ROMANs 12-14-1697 Abs. of Minutes of Concord Mth. EYRE is pronounced AIR and could be spelled w/or w/o the ending "s" - AYRE, AYER, AIRE, EAYER, EYR, etc. I'd like to dig deeper into the early Concord and Chester/Delaware county Quaker meeting records for any further information on this Robert or John EYRE. Can someone provide some recommended reading and access?? It would be greatly appreciated. This man has been a brick wall for researchers for 300 years. Yet every now and then some little tidbit surfaces that hadn't been found before.
Thanks so much Judy! I did find the pages that lists all of the Early Members of Concord Friends Meeting. http://www.midatlanticarchives.com/db_pa_delaware_co/concord_mm_early_members/pg001.htm Gwen Boyer Bjorkman [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Judy Ardine Sent: Sunday, February 22, 2009 8:43 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Q-R] Concord (PA) MM I am a 9th generation direct descendent of Robert EYRE, b: 30 Jan 1648/49 and settled in Bethel twp, Chester (now Delaware) county, PA.
