    3. I hope this message will arrive correctly at Quaker-Roots this time, now I am registered with my new e-mail! From: [email protected]: [email protected]: Samuel Barker of Christiana Hundred, DEDate: Wed, 4 Feb 2009 21:51:07 -0600 I read with interest, Mr Standing's comments on the Christiana area of New Castle Co., DE and its early history. My Samuel Barker was buried 1705 I think (perhaps 1707) at Old Swedes Church in Wilmington. As his sons and families were all Quakers (Daniel Barker md. _____ Nichols or Nicholson), I have always wondered why he was buried at Old Swedes Church. His wife's name was Agnes, and I always wondered if she could have been Swedish. Samuel Barker came to the colonies in 1682, supposedly. He is thought by many to be the same Samuel Barker as the one baptised in Claverly, Shropshire, England....but I have never seen any proof that this is one and the same man.I have not been able to examine the Monthly Meeting Records for Center MM or Wilmington MM. Can anyone help, who perhaps has further information on this early Samuel Barker? His land was supposed to be at "Barker's Bridge" on Red Clay Creek. Many thanks,Marilyn L.
