    1. Abel Janney & Elizabeth Stacy
    2. Hi - I've been reading along & wondering if you could help me fill in some blanks I have in my files. I have Mahlon Stacy & Rebecca Ely with a single child, Rebecca Stacy b 1684 married 1705 in Burlington Co., NJ to Joshua Wright d 1741 son of Joshua I Wright & Elizabeth Empson. I have 2 sons listed for Rebecca & Joshua. I also have 2 Abel Janneys, neither of which could have married Elizabeth Stacy as they were born in 1712 & 1729 respectively. Do you know the parents of the Abel Janney who married Elizabeth Stacy? I have quite a few Janneys as they intermarried with many of my ancestors (i.e. Wetherill, Yardley, Biles, etc...). Any info is appreciated! Thanks & Happy Hunting! Stephanie Wright Bucks Co., PA 2. 3. Thank you so much for your response! I was especially delighted to hear of the Renshaw connection you mentioned. I would love to pursue this with you. I have a copy of the will of John Renshaw probated 1704 of Whitwell Parish, Derby England. It's hard to read and very long! just the type of thing we avid family historians love to spend lots and lots of time on....He mentions "John, the son of my son, deceased, now in New Jersey". We believe this grandson is John Renshaw who married Elizabeth Newcombe (Quaker records).... and have been working to prove whether or not John Renshawe who married Mary Stacy is the son of John Renshaw of Whitwell parish...and John who married Elz. Newcombe is the grandson mentioned in the will. If you'd like me to send it to you via email, let me know... It may contain a clue or two about your Mary. Certainly is in the right time frame. Thank you for the possibilities you have given me for the family of Mary Stacy. I found some land deeds this morning that I need to go back and review in which Mary Stacy, widow , sold land. I tend to agree with you that if Mary were the daughter of Robert, she would have been recorded as the other children were. I started researching the Rencher surname years and years ago with the solid understanding that "we" were in no way related to the early "Renshaws" of PA, MD, NJ....however, DNA testing has planted us in the exact same family! We are currently looking for Renshaws from the line of John of Whitwell to ask to test. It's difficult at best! Thank you again for your response... and I'd love to work on this some more with you. The Stacy family fascinates me ! > I have been researching the Stacey family for several years now and >will attempt to answer some of your questions.......... > I have been researching the Stacey family for several years now and >will attempt to answer some of your questions.......... > > you wrote>> Were Robert and Mahlon related?<< > > Yes ....... 3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Caitanya Hello List: Does anyone have any information on Elizabeth Daughtrey Williams? She is listed in her father's will, Thomas Daughtrey, filed in Northampton County, NC, November 1757. I believe his wife was Mary Peele. But I've been unable to find any information on the name of Elizabeth's husband. Which Williams was he? What happened to them? Who were their children? This is really a brick wall for me, any help with it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Saralie Northam Banks, Oregon

    1. Possible Quaker ancestry - Wayne Co., IN
    2. Robert Hill
    3. I've recently been going over some of my father's ancestry, and found a clue that leads me to believe that some of them may have been Quakers. Benjamin McCASHLAND and his wife Elizabeth WEEKLY and their six children migrated about 1830 from Culpeper Co., Virginia to the Whitewater Valley, Wayne Co., Indiana. Near the same time, Spencer STEVENS, his wife Elizabeth (possibly RHEBARTH) and eight children migrated to Centerville, Wayne Co., IN from Rowan Co., North Carolina. Their grandchildren, Joseph Marion STEVENS and Nancy Elizabeth McCASHLAND married in 1870, had eight children born in Wayne County, and migrated to Stevens Co. in south-west Kansas about 1887. Now, here's the clue I mentioned. Nancy Elizabeth and three of her children died in Haviland, Kiowa Co., Kansas, while Joseph Marion stayed with the farm in Stevens County. The only reason [speculation] I can think of for Nancy to go to Haviland is to be with someone she trusted, either family or church, or both. Haviland was settled by Quakers from Indiana. I never heard my father mention Quakers, and my mother was suprised when I mentioned this possibility to her. Not knowing up from down concerning Quaker genealogy, I thought it would be a good idea to talk to some people who do know the subject. Where do I go to find out if my speculation is valid? 3. Lawrence, Here's something that might help. In 1832, Benjamin Worrall of Penn Township, Morgan County, Ohio, applied for a pension based on service in the Revolutionary War: The State of Ohio, County of Morgan On this 17th day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty two personally appeared in open Court before the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas now sitting Benjamin Worral a resident of Penn Township in the County aforesaid aged eighty eight years on the 22nd day of March last who being duly affirmed according to law doth on this affirmation make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed 7" June 1832-- That he enlisted in the Army of the United States in the summer but the year he cannot now recollect in the Company commanded by Captain Jacob Weaver in the Tenth Regt commanded by Col __ Hampton of the Pennsylvania line of Continental Trops[sic] in Gen'l Wagnes[sic] Division. That his company joined their Regt at the Valley Forge--that he was in the Battle of the Block House where Wayne was repulsed. That he continued in the line for more than three years, that there was a revolt of the Troops in consequence of their being detaniend for a longer period than that of their enlistment which was for the term of three years--they were then discharged, that his discharge is lost or destroyed. That at the time of his enlistment he resided in the town of Lancaster, Penn. where he enlisted and remained until the fall of that year, that Major Green was his major but cannot from the infirmities of age recollect the different marches. He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension of annuity except the present and he declares that his name is not on the Pension Roll of any agency in any State. his Benjamin X Worrell mark --- Dan Treadway P. In 1832, Benjamin Worrall of Penn >Township, Morgan County, Ohio, applied for a pension based on service in >the Revolutionary War: <remainder snipped> > Dan, Thanks so much for the pension application of Benjamin Worrall. As always, your information is so very helpful. I had a reference from one of Ancestry.com's databases--'Family Data Collection--Births', I think, which is, of course, unsourced (and is therefore tantalizing but frustrating)--that gave a birth date of 22 March 1743/44 for Benjamin Worrall. This is the same date as in the pension application. I am going to pursue these leads on Benjamin Worrall further, since I think they may lead ultimately to the parents of Hannah Clendenon. One interesting bit of naming trivia for the children of Isaac and Hannah Clendenon: their first child, a girl, was named Elizabeth, which was the name of Isaac's mother, Elizabeth Barger; their second child, a son, was named Benjamin (Hannah's father's name, perhaps?); their third child, a girl, was named Rebeckah, which was the name of Isaac's father's only sibling (and who married Gaspar Seyboldt); for subsequent children, I can make no logical case, except that their second-to-last and last children were named Isaac and Hannah, respectively. As you know, I'm not trying to make a particular case here; just trying to understand everything about the information I have, in the hope that it will point me toward further research. Thanks again, Lawrence Bouett San Diego, California

    1. Janney and Howell Families in Loudoun Co., VA
    2. DAVID BROWN
    3. I found the following Fairfax Monthly Meeting marriage certificate from "Early Church Records of Loudoun County, Virginia 1745 - 1800," by Marty Hiatt and published by Willow Bend Books: Aaron Hackney of Frederick Co., Maryland, married Hannah Gregg of Loudoun, 31st day of 3rd mo 1768. Witnesses: Mary Gregg, Joseph Hackney, William Gregg, Thomas Gregg, Emey Gregg, George Gregg, John Hanby, John Gregg, John Gregg Jr., George Gregg, Elizabeth Gregg, Amos Gregg, Elijah Harlan, John Harlan, Aaron Davice, Francis Hague, William Hoge, Sarah Janney Jr., Mary Kirk, Mahlon Janney, Thomas Hague, Elizabeth Hough, Mary Janney, Ruth Janney, Amos Hough, Farling Ball, Ann Schooley, Lydia Hollingsworth, William Kirk, Thomas McGeach, Samuel Harriss, Mary Roach, Mary Hoge, Hannah Roach, Hannah Brown, Mary Brown, Pleasant Hague, Eunise Howell, Rachel Howell, Mary Ball, Hannah Howell, Samuel Hague, Mary Harris, Lydia Hough, Hannah Boone, Jacob Sands, James McGeach, Sarah Sands, Adam Carnahan, Joseph Sands, John Brown, David Howell, Isaac Hague, Benjamin Sands, Richard Roach, William Walton, William Cavins, Thomas Hanes, John Walton, Levi Wells, Isaiah Boone, David Wilson. The will of Hugh Howell was written on March 6, 1777 and, in it, he named wife Margaret Howell and children Andrew, Abner, John, Benjamin, Daniel, Reubin, Rachel, and Ann. He also named his executors as William Howell and Timothy Hixon and Francis Hague and William Hixon were securities. It's my understanding that the name Ann, Hannah, and Nancy are all interchangeable, and therefore believe that Hannah Howell and Rachel Howell named in the above marriage certificate are the same girls as Rachel Howell and Ann Howell named in the Hugh Howell will. My question is how (if at all) may the Howells be connected with or related to the Janneys of Loudoun County (besides being neighbors, which I have discerned from the few deeds I've found involving Hugh Howell)? Thanks in advance! Best Regards, David Brown
