I would check with the genealogy department of your local library. After finding the index, I was able to order the relevant pages via the inter library loan system. Edwina I'm a newcomer to the list, and relatively new to genealogy. Looking for feedback on two books I'm looking to purchase. #1 Early Church Records of Burlington County, NJ, Volume 3 (by Meldrum). I do have Quaker history in Burlington County, so that seemed like a good one. #2 Index to Hinshaw's Enclcylopedia of American Quaker Genealogy (by Hinshaw). I've read lots of raves for this book, but I won't have easy access to the Encyclopedia itself. Would Volume 2 (New Jersey and Pennsylvania Monthly Meetings) be a better purchase, seeing as how my family resided in those states? Thanks for any descriptions or endorsements you might have. Lance
I don't know about GPC, but it is CD #192 from Genealogy.com--very easy to use, print, and so on. Does anyone have access to this book that could look up Samuel Paxson who married Sarah Pearson and tell me what the book has to say. Samuel is the son of Samuel Paxson who is thought to belong to William and Anna Marriott Paxson. I have Sarah's ancestry, just haven't found the names of all her children. One was Elizabeth Smith Paxson who married Robert Hutchinson. Thank you for the help Merry Anne Pierson

Esther was the daughter of Robert and Rachel (Taylor) Lamb. Robert Lamb's relationship to the family of Henry "the glovemaker" Lamb, who died in 1761, is unclear. There's no indication in any of the Waynje County Quaker records that these people were Friends. Wayne Count was a major Quaker center, but Friends were always a minority of the population. I was thrilled to catch the note about the Southerly house and to read the article. This rebuilt house is built on the land of my ancestor, Thomas Garrett, who built the original log cabin there in 1683, and who's base is built the now standing rock house. I had the pleasure to visit this property 4 years ago, and saw the pile of old logs stacked up that was later rebuilt into the Southerly house. Thank you for posting it. Carol Garrett

The parents of Samuel Atkinson 1685-1775 were Thomas Atkinson and Jane Bond. Barclay ----- Original Message ----- From: DAVID BROWN To: QUAKER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 12:09 AM Subject: Re: [Q-R] Abel Janney & Elizabeth Stacy Thanks to all who replied to my query regarding Abel Janney and Elizabeth Stacy. While browsing GenForum postings this evening, I came across a posting by Su Wetzel, which lists the children of this couple. I've included Su's posting below. Does anyone know if there were other children of Abel Janney and Elizabeth Stacy? Thanks in advance! David Brown By Su Wetzel: 1. ELIZABETH2 STACY (MAHLON1 STAYCE) was born 1673. She married ABEL JANNEY January 06, 1699/00 in Trenton, NJ, son of THOMAS JANNEY and MARGARET HEATH. He was born December 29, 1671 in Moberley Bry Grn, Cheshire, England, and died 1748. Children of ELIZABETH STACY and ABEL JANNEY are: 2. i. AMOS3 JANNEY, b. November 15, 1701, Bucks Co., PA. ii. REBECKAH JANNEY, b. September 09, 1702; m. JOSEPH POOLE. iii. THOMAS JANNEY, b. 1705. iv. ABEL JANNEY, b. 1705. v. MAHLON JANNEY, b. February 18, 1705/06, Bucks Co., PA. vi. JACOB JANNEY, b. April 10, 1710, Bucks Co., PA; m. ELIZABETH LEVIS; b. 1714. vii. ELIZABETH JANNEY, b. 1711; m. DAVID WILSON. HawkEcho@aol.com wrote:Thank you to Barclay & NT for the info on Abel Janney & Elizabeth Stacy's families. The best part is that they slid right into my database. I already had Abel's parents listed (with 1 child) because his brother Joseph married Rebecca Biles, a daughter of my direct "grandparents," William Biles & Johannah Hellard. As for Elizabeth Stacy's sister Ruth marrying Samuel Atkinson, that's a whole 'nother ball of fun as I have quite a few Atkinsons running around in my files as they married into Bullock, Weeks, Allinson, Biles, Lippincott, Price, Canby and a few Wetherill descendants as well. Lastly, does anyone know the above Samuel Atkinson's parents? I'm hoping that they're already present in my files and also just need to be "attached." Thank you again & Happy Hunting!
