    1. Consuelo Furman
    2. Elizabeth Zaring
    3. Hello All, I am hoping someone familiar with libraries on the East Coast can help me with this issue. I am attempting to determine if/where the manuscripts of Consuelo Furman have been deposited. She apparently was a professional genealogist from New York, b. 1902, d. 1988 in Flushing, Queens. She co-authored some books with her father, Robert Furman, one being," Quaker Bibliography for the Genealogist" in 1938. Two books by Robert and Consuelo are on file at the College of William and Mary. Consuelo Furman has something in Box 4 of the AFSC Collection at Swarthmore Library. She also authored a document entitled "Descendents of Samuel Taylor, "Quaker" of Burlington Co. NJ, in 1959. Consuelo Furman, as far as I can tell, never married or had any children. She died in 1988 in Flushing. Is there a protocol for taking care of records of genealogists? In the mid 1930's, she was commissioned by Charles Louis La Boiteaux (Laboyteaux) of Cincinnati Ohio to do the genealogy of this family. I have a portion of the work she completed for the Laboyteaux family and am interested in finding the entire genealogy. She seems to have done some amount of work on the Burlington Co. NJ area. Does anyone know if a particular library is a repository of her works? Thank you for any suggestions. Beth Zaring Wellston, Ohio

    3. I hope I am sending this right Hi, my name is lisa, I am trying to find out about my family. My Grandfather was Ernest Lincoln they lived in Grinnell Iowa. I was told they were Quakers. I have found put that they came to the states on the Dovenshire. My Great Grandfather I guess was hurt on the ship and was on bed rest most of the time, some thing about a barrell of potatoes fell on him I think his name was Edwin Lincoln. I did see the grave sites and the head stone says he is from England and his wife from Scottland. I would like to be able to find pictures and other things about them, my Father was Raymond Lincoln born in grinnell Iowa and lived in Newton Iowa and Albert Lea Minnesota. He was 56 when I was born and his mom passed when he was about 2 and his Father passed before I was born my dad never really talked much about family but then again could be that I didnt really think to ask. I dont think he remembered that much either. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Meet the all-new My Yahoo! Try it today!

    3. Dan, that link did take me to my guy. What I have on the Moses Rich (June 5, 1771) that married Amy Robbins (Abt. 1770) is that he was a son of John Rich (June 13, 1717) and Sarah Frazier (November 10, 1725) and brother of John Rich Jr. (July 8, 1753). John Jr. married Martha Wall (1755) and they had a son named Peter Wall Rich (July 17, 1783), who married Sarah Sanders (June 11, 1787) and they were the parents of my David Rich (October 3, 1809). Hope that's not too confusing. 3. Billie Lee Smith, thank you for your informative post - and thank you for the information on the library at the Friends University in Wichita, KS as well as that in Emporia - I will look into them. I am a member of the Rich Family Association and do recieve copies of thier publication "Kin Folk" although it mainly covers the Rich families of Massachusetts and not much on our nomadic Quaker Rich's. The David Rich (b. 1809 in Randolph Co., NC) you mentioned is my ggg grandfather - he didn't die in Indiana but died in Eureka, Greenwood Co., KS. David's wife' (Betsey Scott) died in Stafford Co., KS - They are both buried in Pleasant Valley/Quaker Cemetery, Stafford, Stafford Co., KS ********************************* Death Notice: Stafford Republican August 22, 1895 FROM EUREKA Mr. David Rich died at the residence of his son William, Aug 15th. He had been in poor health for a long time and his death though sudden was not unexpected. next pargraph: Wm Counterman and wife, of Hutchinson, were up to attend the funeral of Mrs. Counterman's father, Mr. Rich. ________ Death Notice: Stafford County Republican July 4, 1889 DIED July 1st, at 9 o'clock p.m. at her home in York tp., Mrs Betsey Rich, wife of David Rich, aged over 70 years. Mrs. Rich had a stroke of paralysis several years ago which rendered her almost helpless. A few days ago she had another attack, and from that time on she gradually sunk, until death claimed its victim. She died in the full triumph of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and has gone home to rest. ********************************************************************** I have nothing on Madison Rich - the John you mentioned was a brother to my David. best of luck & keep me in mind, Jerry Proctor ----- Original Message ----- From: "Billie Lee Smith" <blsmith@rurallink.net> To: "Jerry Proctor" <jerrypro@ix.netcom.com> Sent: Sunday, February 13, 2005 7:49 AM Subject: Re: [Q-R] Kansas Quakers > Dear Mr Proctor, > > About 10 years ago there was a Willis and Betty Jane Rich living Box > 122, Las Animas, CO. 3. Margaret, since you've ordered the four volumes of Hinshaw's Kansas Quaker MM records, I won't dig too deeply for your Hadleys although there are four "listings" of them in Volume Four. In my tree, I have an Esther Jane Hadley (April 12, 1854) married to an Amos Spray (April 5, 1849) - both "Friends" and born in Indiana - both moved to Kansas. Any bells? 2. I do not know the county for "South Hampton", New Hampshire, and I do not know the nearby counties in New Hampshire or Massachusetts. Perhaps you should use those counties in the Meeting Search tab at <www.QuakerMeetings.com> . Also, I will copy this message to the Quaker-Roots listserve to query the folks who would know best how to trace the Beede family. Tom Hill tomhill@nuvox.net > If you lived in South Hampton NH in 1850-1860, what MM would you probably attend? I am looking for info on the Jonathan Beede family. They are in the 1850 census there. I am looking for info on Azuba Beede, Jonathan's wife. Her father was Amos Lezure of MA. They had a dau Caroline & her bro. James Holder Beede b. abt 1844. Caroline is my gr grandmother. I am especially trying to find out what happened to James & Azubah. Thank you so much & god's blessings this Valentines Day of 2005.

    3. Margaret, regarding your post on the QUAKER-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com where you were looking for help on researching Quakers in Kansas - I am also searching for some Quaker ancestors (David & Betsey (Scott) Rich) who moved from Union TWP, Howard Co., Indiana to Stafford Co., Kansas shortly after 1880. David died there August 15, 1895 & Betsey died there in July 1, 1889 - both are buried in the Pleasant Valley/Quaker Cemetery, Stafford, Stafford Co., KS. I have the book - Volume Four of William Wade Hinshaw Kansas Quaker Meeting Records - Monthly Meetings S - W. If you can list a few names I will gladly see if I can find them in my book. ********************************************************* For any one interested: From: "ETCHED IN STONE" TOMBSTONE INSCRIPTIONS OF STAFFORD COUNTY, KANSAS PLEASANT VALLEY CEMETERY NE1/4 SEC 32 TWP 24 R 11 Fairview Township Pleasant Valley Cemetery is fenced and well kept. This cemetery was copied 1989 and a final check was made 10 October 1990. The Pleasant Valley Cemetery is located from Stafford two miles south then three and one half miles east. This cemetery is located on the south side of the road on a small hill. The Pleasant Valley Cemetery was once in the church yard of the Friends Church which is now gone. The two acres of land were donated by Alson R. & Elizabeth Wall in 1889. The land was donated for use as a church and cemetery. It was stipulated that after the church was gone the land was to continue being used as a public burial ground. This cemetery is in Cemetery District #1 and is not actively used.
