I, for one, am thrilled to hear this! I'd read somewhere that there was a plan to release more volumes, but hadn't been able to find out any more about it. Are there still going to be 8 volumes? This is just really exciting... Hello all - Can someone tell me how many Hinshaw books there are? I've heard there are several and I've only found five at one library, less at others. Thanks much -- Terri
Hi Gary, Where were James Radcliff/Ratcliff and Alice Rawsthorne? My ancestor, Ellis Scholefield (b. Abt 1625-1685) of Rossendale, Lancashire, England, married an Alice Rawsthorn (1635-1685). They lived all their lives in Lancashire. Odd coincidence that we'd both have Alice Rawsthorn(e)s in our family trees. Seeking evidence of birth of Daniel ca. 1714 to 1720 to James Radcliff and Alice Rawsthorne. I've got a 6-week virus and can't leave the house. Q-Rers: Here are two Cemetery Projects in INDIANA. http://www.geocities.com/sdfranklin_1999/inssar_cem-project.html INDIANA SOCIETY SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION CEMETERY PROJECT 2000 - 2006 INDIANA BURIALS http://www.cemeteries-madison-co-in.com/ Copyright © 2003 Madison County Cemetery Commission (Indiana). I found them because I was following a lateral line of Zachariah Paddock md. Deborah Sears. My Priscilla Paddock md. William Coffin , Nantucket, MA>Guilford Co., NC is a granddaughter of this early colonial family of Cape Cod. The Paddock Cemetery & the Sears Cemeteries are near each other in East Dennis, Barnstable Co., MA; and my son, Jeff, & daughter were able to locate their graves a couple of years ago on their annual trek to Cape Cod & the Islands (Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard). Hello, I am lookjng for any connections to WILLIAM TATEM born in Pennsylvania in October of 1858. He was a plumber by trade. He married Nellie Kelly in 1881 and had 7 children. One of the children was MARGARET TATEM , my grandmother. I know that WILLIAM TATEM had a brother JOSEPH. I know that the TATEM family were Quakers. I find 2 WILLIAM TATEMs in the 1880 census: One at 109 Pine St in Phila. in a boarding house ( Interestingly also living there was an ELLEN KELLY who could be the NELLIE KELLY that he married). He is listed as a plumber. Another is listed with parents ROBERT and MARGARET in Philadelphia Enumeration district 257. Does anyone have any connections, or know of this family? Thanks for any help you can give. Marge

To Whom It May Concern: I am requesting information about the heirs of Alfred B. Jacob (1889-1980). Dr. Jacob taught Romance Languages at University of Pennsylvania and Franklin & Marshall. During the Spanish Civil War he was in charge of child feeding in the northeast region for the Friends Service Council of London My immediate purpose is to request copy permission for Professor Jacob's translation of Solomon Ibn Gabirol's Fountain of Life (Fons Vitae) which he prepared before his death in 1980 and which was published by the Sabian Publishing Society in Stanwood, Washington. Professor Jacob's is the only complete translation of this philosophical classic in English, and would be of inestimable value to scholars if made more widely available. I would be prepared to invest the labor for this purpose without remuneration or intent to profit financially. I am planning to teach a class on this work in Fall, 2005. The biographical note on Professor Jacob in the book notes that his daughter was publications manager for the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of Friends. Leonard Levin 356 Redmond Rd. We have an interesting smith connection to the Stacey family which goes way back, in fact the mother of Raymond Burr, known publicly as Perry Mason was a smith. I found a picture of a home in the East belonging to Stacey/Smith which may have been her family home at one time. Does anyone know of the Smith-Burr connection. Some of our English staceys were quakers and some came to America. I do not know about Canada or what religion Raymond Burr followed. I also do not know how he got his middle name, William Stacy which was the same as my great grandfather's name. On Apr 2, 2005 7:57 AM, Edsel B. Does anyone know if DOWs of Maine were still Quakers by 1850/1860? And if so, where would the repository be? This came via DOW-L@rootsweb.com. Please see info in threaded message below. Maine The earliest Dow in my line I have been able to find is William Dow b. abt. 1789. I found him in the 1850 and 1860 census in Augusta, Kennebec County, ME on the ancestry.com website when I had a free trial. Not to be confused with another William Dow of Whitefield, Lincoln County, ME. They both lived at the same time. The 1850 census lists William Dow, age 56, Farmer, born in Maine. Mary Dow, age 45, born in ME. Llewellyn, age 14, male, born in Maine. Eliza, age 10, female, born in ME. The 1860 crnsus lists William, age 70, still in Agusta. I retract my last post, I messed up, it was Bill Kristol, not Pat Buchanan. Thanx, Marla.
I was wondering if there is any thought about the problem with Pat Buchanan recently at Earlham? Delete if inappropriate. Bob Cooke
I am looking for a photograph of William Hiatt Coffin, born 1825 in Wayne Co., Indiana and died 1925 in Pasadena, California. Hi Tom & List, Re: Your Post [Q-R] Quaker family history sources in Ireland. I too joined the List and on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 posted a message (please see below) to the List but have no had one reply either. On the other RootsWeb Lists that I am a member of I have found them to be much more active. Can someone please tell me if the way I worded my posting is the reason I have not had a reply. I do have a brain injury and know that I sometimes do not do things as well as I should. Any help / comments would be much appreciated. Best regards, Ian Butterworth. ================================== Hi List, I have just joined today and am hoping SKS maybe able to help me. My 3 x Great Grandfather was James Henry BUTTERWORTH who was born 20 Oct 1810 in Wiltshire, England. He is shown as a Draper on the 1841 Census. He married Ann SIDNELL (born 24 Sep 1798 in Melksham, Wiltshire, England). (I do not know when / where they married). James and Ann had a son Henry George BUTTERWORTH born 21 Nov 1835 in Melksham, Wiltshire, England. I know of no other children born to this couple. James Henry BUTTERWORTH died 14 Jul 1841 in Melksham, Wiltshire, England. I have always known that my BUTTERWORTH ancestors in Wiltshire were of a nonconformist religion but after 11 years of research I am no closer to finding out who the parents of James Henry BUTTERWORTH were. However in the last few days it was suggested to me that the BUTTERWORTH who were in Wiltshire were Quakers and I then remembered that in the late 1950's (when I was about 13 years of age) my father had told me that the "BUTTERWORTH in Wiltshire were Quakers". Is anyone on the List related to any of the BUTTERWORTH in Wiltshire, England? >From some information I have collected over the years I do know that there was an Edward BUTTERWORTH (who was also a Draper) and Hester COGSWELL who had at least 6 children in Trowbridge from about 1804 onwards. I only know the name of one of these children and he was Edward BUTTERWORTH (the 1851 Census shows he was a Linen Draper & Hatter) who was born 1806 in Trowbridge. From this very scant information I think there is a chance that Edward BUTTERWORTH and Hester COGSWELL maybe the parents of my James Henry BUTTERWORTH. Any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Ian BUTTERWORTH Victoria, Australia -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
