    3. Hi Cornelia I had a quick look and can see many of the people you talk about on the CD of the Suffolk Quaker Digest Index produced by our QFHS. Essex is the next Quarterley Meeting to be produced hopefully before the summer. I can send details of the CD if you are interested. An explaination about the digests is on our website www.qfhs.co.uk This seems to be playing up tonight. It should resolve to http://www.rootsweb.com/~engqfhs/ which is still working. then go to Research Then go to Digests of Births, Marriages and Burials. 3. thank you, Margaret, yes, I'm waiting with baited breath for the cd's. they were to be a Christmas present but weren't ready at the allotted time, so were to be a birthday present and aren't ready still...and now you say that Essex is slated for summer....I'd have a choice word or two with them, as they said the only delay was packaging....I've never been all that interested in packaging. if it didn't cause mass confusion I'd have everything packaged in white with black print! LOL! oh, well...I do hope they are scans of the original pages, and not just the indexes but the original records. I need to re-examine some things, and follow up on new leads.... I'm familiar with the digests...used them "b.i." (before internet-at least, before much of anything was online, just a bbs is all, nothing even close to what we have now) spent a small fortune (literally) on ordering the films from the Mormon library and printing out about a foot deep of copies from the films-both indexes and original records, not just of Essex and Suffolk, but of London, Middlesex, Surrey and Devon, as well as 98% of England that I ordered films for but made no copies of. drove myself a bit crazy trying to discover the Harwich records...only to eventually find that they either weren't kept or were lost-there goes the marriage of my John Freeman and Susannah Rayner (and possibly her birth, as well).....the marriage is recorded (intentions only) in the Colchester meeting index, (but I believe the m. itself took place in Harwich as it isn't in Woodbridge or Walton) but I can't find the actual intentions-it isn't where the index says it is. considering the time frame (1600's) I've done fairly well with my Woodbridge and Walton ancestors and relatives...still some blank spaces and holes, a few missing branches, but all in all, not too bad...for the mid 1700's it gets nearly complete, but then we lose people to other faiths and the tree starts getting a bit spotty again as the family comes into the 1800's. guess that's how most trees are...not necissarily at the same periods as mine, though...would love to see rhe pr's start showing up in FreeReg.... can you tell me, though, was there an Acton Meeting, and if so, are the records extant....or if there was no Acton Meeting, which meeting would the residents of Acton go to? that's Acton, Suffolk...didn't realize that there were so many! would it be Sudbury? wasn't there a large meeting there? or Lavenham...oh, the things I didn't pay much attention to early on! at the time they didn't seem to have any connection! I hope I don't make too much of a pest of myself with all these questions and files...I feel a bit less than an intermediate researcher when all I can do is "armchair research", never getting to roll up my sleeves and delve into the archives...but I've been at it for 20 years, and so I've got alot of info...and just as many questions! regards, Cornelia -- Norton Antivirus protected ----- Original Message ----- From: "J Margaret Page" <pagekidder@hotmail.com> To: <QUAKER-BRITISH-ISLES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2006 2:07 PM Subject: Re: [Q-B-I] who are these Quaker relations from marriage records among my people? > Hi Cornelia > I had a quick look and can see many of the people you talk about on the CD > of the Suffolk Quaker Digest Index produced by our QFHS. > Essex is the next Quarterley Meeting to be produced hopefully before the > summer. > I can send details of the CD if you are interested. > An explaination about the digests is on our website www.qfhs.co.uk This > seems to be playing up tonight. > It should resolve to http://www.rootsweb.com/~engqfhs/ which is still > working. > then go to Research > Then go to Digests of Births, Marriages and Burials. > Margaret snip

    3. I am interested in viewing and/or purchasing the Essex CD you mention. How can I obtain it (I live in the united States)I am interested in Rachel Winston MESSER AND Walter MARRIAGE. (You can imagine the problems encountered when I search for that name. They were married in the Chelmsford, Essex meetinghouse on 8 March, 1848. I believe six children were born there. Any information on this family that you have would be apprecited. I have details of the genealogy of the Marriage side of this connection, going back to Francis Marriage (died 1701) and I am still in contact with one of their descendants, Donald O Marriage. I also have copies of a printed Marriage family tree produced in 1987, but it only includes Marriage descendants. As it happens, I am another descendant of the family, though not of Walter & Rachel, the member of the Guild of One-Name Studies who has registered the name Marriage and the coordinator of the Quaker Family History Society Digest indexing project (that Margaret Page has mentioned a good deal recently). If Eleanor gets in touch with me direct with details of what she wants to know I will see what I can do to help.
