    1. [Q-B-I] Mary Dyer -request
    2. J. Margaret Page
    3. I received the following request. 'I am working on a student documentary about Mary Dyer, a Quaker and martyr of the 1600's. On Friday October 11th, we will be traveling from Boston to London and will be staying until October 15th to film material for our documentary. We are wondering if anyone from your organization would like to be interviewed and share with us any information you may have about Mary Dyer and/or the Quaker movement... if there is any chance anyone from your organization will be in London during that time, I would love to set up an interview. We would also be grateful if you also happen to know of any Quaker, Quaker historians, or any relevant parties that would like to be interviewed for our film. John and I would greatly appreciate any interested individual who would like to share their knowledge concerning Mary Dyer or general Quaker history.' If anyone can help, please let me know and if you would like the student to contact you further please let me have your contact details (info@qfhs.co.uk) and I will pass them on. Thanks, Margaret

    3. Margaret Bennett, our QFHS Founder, as I posted earlier , died on 24th June this year. I promised to let you know when I knew about her Memorial Meeting of Worship. I now have the details. It will be held on the 21st September at 3p.m. at Hampstead Quaker Meeting House, 120 Heath Street, London, NW3 1DR . It will be followed by a gathering to celebrate her life with tea and cakes. It is, I think advisable to let the Meeting know if you intend to go so they are prepared although as she has not been active for some time I doubt many members will know her. We have a lot to thank her for. Kind Regards, Margaret

    1. [Q-B-I] Margaret Bennett, the founder of QFHS, has died
    2. J. Margaret Page
    3. Reporting the death of our Founder, Margaret Bennett, I arrived home this morning to find a letter dated 4th July from Irene Davies, QFHS member no 3, informing me of the death on June 24th this year (2019) of Margaret Bennett, our founder. She said there was a private cremation 4th July and there will be a memorial meeting probably in September. She will let me know. Margaret was 103 last January. I have many happy memories of our early QFHS meetings, the tales she told and the colourful forceful character she was. I was pleased to share in the celebrations when she was 100 and meet her family. along with some fellow past Chairs and representatives of QFHS. Thanks Margaret for all you did to get QFHS off the ground. Now it is up to us to nurture our Society! More when I know of any arrangements. Kind Regards, J. Margaret Page

    2. Secretary
    3. It occurred to me that some people might not know about the Friends House Library blog that they call 'Quaker Strongrooms'. It's always very informative about all aspects of Quaker history - including social history and family history - and is written from the perspective of the principal British custodians of that very history. The blog can be found here <https://quakerstrongrooms.org/>, but if like me you can't wait to read a new posting, but want to see it immediately it's released, you can also sign up to have it delivered by email, as it comes out - just enter your email address in the box at the top of the page, to sign up for this. 3. Hullo Margaret I seem to have  misplaced my proxy form for the QFHS Annual Meeting. I have a nomination form. Is that the same thing. It does not indicate a place to indicate a proxy. If you can forward me the appropriate form, I will send one in. Otherwise, this email can act as my authorization for the Executive Committee to act on my behalf. This is  just off Trafalgar Square and near Charring Cross and Leicester Square, so easy to get to. We have an interesting programme (see below) but we also have our AGM early afternoon. Very, very few members have sent in their proxy votes which may mean even with proxy votes in place we will not be quorate and will then have to reconvene at a later date. I hope that means you who are QFHS members are coming along.  Your support is vital so if you were not sure whether to come or not please come. You are needed. Now we have an excellent supporting programme starting with a video by Antony Barlow  -  'A Family of Friends'. This is based on Antony's family tree. He comes from a long line of eminent Quakers. Besides the fascinating Quaker family detail, if like me, you are struggling to make an introduction to your own family tree in a format easy for your own family to follow, come and be inspired by this! Tony will also speak about 'Three Remarkable Friends' his latest book & 'A Family of Friends' Of great interest to all those with Quaker family connections is the talk by Lisa Mc Quinn from Friends House Library who will tell us of latest developments there. It is important to us to keep the excellent rapport we have with this library of central excellence. The library is of eminent importance to Quaker family history studies. For instance, those wishing to investigate post 1837 Quaker birth, marriage and burials, this library is the place to go. Here is a chance to learn more of this library and speak to Lisa. The AGM business takes place early afternoon. We ae looking for more members for Committee. As we can  run these now over the internet by Skype, all those out in the wilds can take an active part. Even if you can't attend the AGM, do let us know if you are interested. We really could do with some help building a new website as the current one is tired and dated. We also need help with suggestions and with organising One Day Conferences .If you would like to see us in your area (sorry - of the UK only) then send your ideas. After the AGM business early afternoon, we hope members will join in with something of interest from their own Quaker researches. It doesn't have to be anything formal but if you have something of interest you would like to show us or talk about, please bring it along. These will be short 10 minute sort of sessions. I have prepared a shirt powerpoint  'Lady L. - her legacy to us all'. This has a vague connection to my family but a huge connection with my current life. To keep me to the time slot and stop me talking for England, please join in with  your own short talk. Thank you. 1. [Q-B-I] Request for information on Wallace Morris
    2. J. Margaret Page
    3. A lady from Malvern Quaker Meeting is asking if anyone has any information on her father Wallace Morris. She sent a cutting dated 1914 from " Peace Pioneering in Germany" by Maurice L. Rowntree, George Green and Wallace R. Morris. A threepenny booklet by Headley Brothers. It is about an Adult School deputation to Germany in 1913. The lady says Maurice L. Rowntree was a Conscentios Objector and imprisoned in WW1. If any one has any information on Wallace they can send I will pass it on. Wallace lived in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Birmingham and Worcester all in the UK. He attended Worcester Quaker Meeting but was fond of singing. He married a Methodist. I will anyway pass the cutting onto our Editor who may wish to include in a future Quaker Connections magazine. Thanks, Margaret J. Margaret Page
