    1. [QC-ETANGLO] erasing/removing cemetery stones?
    2. Heather Howard
    3. I was very alarmed by the CTV news item last night that reported that only in Quebec is there no protection of the cemeteries of our ancestors from being dug up, buried over and their tombstones scratched off to replace names with those of the more "recently dead." I certainly didn't know that cemetery leases are only good for 99 years and then must be renewed (for $250) or the cemetery can bury over and replace headstones. This is not the case in other provinces where "in perpetuity" means in perpetuity. This summer, I was planning on recording headstones in five cemeteries around Granby (Pinewood and the Cowie Street, Roxton Pond area, Ste. Cecile de Milton, and Ste Marie d'Ely) where my ancestors are buried. Does anyone know if this headstone/plot repossession is taking place in the ET?
