    3. Landry surname has two origins, one in New France and the other in Acadia (Nova Scotia today) The Acadians came to Lower Canada after their expulsion in 1750. Hence if you find no trace before 1760, this indicated the Acadian surname. All church records from 1608 to 1900 are available in the 5 branches of the Quebec National archives (One exception, the 6th ANQ, Sherbrooke has trasferred the microfilms to the genealogical society there). They will provide moderated price photocopies if you provide the exact information. They will not conduct extensive research. These microfilms are the equivalent of the Mormon microfilms in the US, its the original handwritten record. More ifo see Marlene Simmons web at http://www.virtuel.qc.ca/simmons/ If the ancestors are Roman Catholics, the is a comercial web site providing on line data up to 1799, but not after. This is the PRDH at http://www.genealogie.umontreal.ca/en/main.htm Finally family associations or the equivalent of one name studies at http://www.genealogie.com/liens/a.html may be a source.
