Could anyone tell me approximate dates of when this law started or ended? I ask because I'm wondering if I will find my female ancestor under her maiden name (after her husband died on Sept. 7, 1901) on any records such as the census. Anyone have any idea when the 1901 census was done in Bolton? Probably the summer months? I appreciate any help with my questions. Thank You, Joyce [under the French Civil Code (Quebec family law runs under the Code, and not British common law) a woman's legal name was her maiden name]
