I am a newbie on your list. I am researching my ggrandparents (Elizabeth HOULE, and Eusebe PICHETTE). Elizabeth HOULE was born in Stanhope Quebec, she married Eusebe PICHETTE in May of 1881. I have tried to locate Stanhope,Stanstead County, Quebec in the Canadian 1881 Census but was unable to find their listing. I live about three hours north of Madison WI. so travel time cuts into research time. Would someone on the list familiar with the 1881 or 1871 Census tell me where I can locate Stanhope. For those unfamilar with Stanhope it is located just across the border from Norton VT. This is where the family settled before moving to Wisconsin. Any assistance will be appreciated.
