    1. [QC-ETANGLO] deed to land
    2. Hi Listers, Has anyone ever obtained a copy of their soldier ancestor's original deed to their land. My soldier ancestor was granted 100 acres in Grantham, Drummond, in 1815-16. I have been told that after the 3 year trial period, settlers were given a deed to their land. I have spoken to someone who has seen his ancestor's deed, he said his father sent away somewhere in Quebec to obtain it. He said all he remembers about it is that there was a mention of the land being bought for 1 shilling. He is quite positive these deed exist. I have written to St. Foy but was told I would have to hire a researcher, as it was more than they were willing to undertake. I don't mind hiring someone, but I would really like to know if anyone else out there has seen these deeds first. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Carol
