Hello List: Back again, having just returned from a hunting expedition and would like to try again! I found the following death record in New Hampshire: JEAN BAPTISTE LAFRANCE b. 4/18/1851 Kingsey, QUE. (Name may have been JEAN HENRY LAFRANCE) Father's name: FELIX LAFRANCE. The death record of his son lists mother as MARY BRISSON. Grandson (now deceased) reported that JEAN had married three times and MARY died in childbirth in 1880. The grandson also referred to Jean as HENRY so perhaps that would have been his middle name. So it may appear that he came to US after her death, either with children, or children and a new wife. >From records, it appears that JEAN came to NH between 1884 and 1895. There is a discrepancy in the dates. His death record says he was a resident of the US for 44 years when he died in 1928 which would make his coming to NH in 1884. However, if you take his birthdate and add 44 years it comes out to 1895. Any help would be apprecated. Thanks in advance. Molly Shumate molly@sunline.net
