    1. HOLLIS SMITH - Pg. 49. HUBBARD's book (VINCENT-BIGELOW-CHILD-CHADWICK)
    2. Hello List, While going through HUBBARD's book last night (researching BIGELOW ancestry of MARCUS CHILD and wife LYDIA CHADWICK), I came across a passage about HOLLIS SMITH in conjunction with being in business for two or three years with ROBERT VINCENT in Charleston - East Hatley. (I had underlined this passage long ago and left off without further investigation) ROBERT VINCENT had a store there and was associated with LEVI BIGELOW, of Derby, Vt. (Note: LEVI BIGELOW was the uncle of MARCUS CHILD) I have discovered that MARCUS CHILD and wife LYDIA CHADWICK were half first cousins, both were BIGELOW descendants sharing the same grandparents, DAVID BIGELOW and DEBORAH HEYWOOD of Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts. the passage about SMITH reads - MR. VINCENT continued in trade more than twenty years. He was a man of strict integrity, but not a successful merchant. HOLLIS SMITH was associated with him in business some two or three years, but afterwards removed to Sherbrooke, P. Q. As my elusive 2 great grandmother CLARINA HOWARD (SMITH) HOPKINSON has strong ties with Sherbrooke (listed in 1851 census, married there in 1851, all children baptized there, find her back there, alone, in 1901 census, and finally, is buried there at Elmwood Cemetery) I wondered if anyone knows anything about HOLLIS SMITH and family? CLARINA HOWARD SMITH was b. Quebec, March 08, 1829, m. April 14, 1851, d. December 10, 1907 presumably Sherbrooke, Quebec.
