Hi Listers, I am hoping someone can help me with this. When our ancestor settlers were granted land in the Eastern Townships, they had certain requirements to fulfill before they were given official title (deed) to the land. I am trying to locate these records, not the land grants or petitions for land. But the actual deed (title) the government would have issued to the settler once they had stayed on the land for 3 years and meet the other necessary requirements. These records may possibly be called "Letter Patents" Does anyone know anything about these Letter Patents (title or deed), and where should be looking for them. Any information or suggestions would be most welcomed. Carol
