Hi List, I'm taking a chance that my ancestors were in this area when they immigrated from Ireland. I'm researching surname STEWART,Conoughan,Connegan, Conaghan (these are the (3) spellings I have received, and there are probably more. My research is tough as I have nothing on them before Vermont, only that they had been in Canada, and before that Ireland. Searching: Alexander STEWART b c1804-1812in Ireland m Mary Conoughan (Conoghan,Connegan) b c 1812 in Ireland. There first (5) children born Canada 1836-1845 Isabel STEWART b 1836 Canada East Samuel STEWART b 1841 Canada East Martha STEWART b 1843 Canada East Mathew/Matthew STEWART b 1844 Canada East Robert George Stewart b 1845 Canada East I would say that they had to have emigrated in early 1830s The above information comes from VT censuses. Hoping that someone will have information on these Canadian connections, they emigrated into Vermont about 1850 according to Vt Census Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Cathie - Leven9700@aol.com
