    2. I think Sarah must have been born in some small village with a name something like Sharon or Shushan. The census worker did not seem familiar with the name, as he had no trouble making a name like Marlborough legible. Note the c as the last letter in Quebec. That is not the ending to this word. I happened to have been checking on a John Simpson a couple of pp. on. (p.15) If it were not for the record on line that he was baptised in Cambridge NY, I would take this census worker's handwriting as something like Bambrid. Anyway, as this is sort of my neck of the woods, I took a look. All that I could find was that a Sarah Lewis married an Amasa Thomas on August 1, 1835 in Troy, NY. This may have been on line, but the person who shared her files, has now withdrawn them. I do not know if marriages occurring in 1835 were registered with the city & county as yet.. Sarah's father was probably in the 1835 NYS census, but that too has been lost. The 1st available is 1855.
