In that line of the family twins and triplets were common as well as red haired children. I live in Hanksville Vt in the winter and Swanton Vt in the summer but in St.Albans there was a set of Vol that brought the tracey line back to the person who stabbed Thomas Beckett if you can believe that, and some Norse viking people, it had alot of info. And there were DAR lines in it as well. Akiens go back to a Rogers family from Braddford Vt, said to be related to the Rogers Rangers leader. Its' kind of ironic for me because my fathers' side is Abenaki and Mohawk and Tories. Where as my mothers' side is full of Revolutionary War supporters and Indian fighters. There was a Tracey that was brother to ours who lived in Franklin Vt who was a "basket maker" so someone on line jumped on that and tried to claim he was abenaki. When I tried to correct that assumption I was accused of being racist. I am a card holding abenaki and die hard pow wower. In some of the old genealogies I have found statements (Millers and Hillikers) that the families just happened to wander that far above the border and didnt know that they were in Canada, and it just so happened to be in the late 1780s. In some cases I wonder if that is why people did not list their parents. In the case of my ancestor Rufus Reynolds who lived in Franklin Vt both his grandfathers had land confiscated in Vt- so perhaps that is why he never listed parents in his marriage document. Carollee MK <pilgrimkin@yahoo.com> wrote: Jonathan Tracy was brother to my g, g, grandfather, William H. Tracy. I think William was the youngest of 14 children of Daniel Tracy and Hannah Burgess. Daniel was married the 1st time to a Lois Hurlburt. After Lois died he married Hannah Burgess of Charlotte, Vermont. I am also related to the Miller's via Sarah Miller. Sarah Miller m. Solomon Brock (they are my ancestors). Solomon and Sarah's son, William E. Brock m. Emma/Emily Carrow (also seen as Corrow and Caron). Willam and Emma Brock's son, Merl Brock, was my grandfather. Sarah Miller was a triplet. Her mother died in child birth. Her half sisters, Freelove and Melvina Miller, married brothers, Chester Percy Tracy and Jonathan Tracy. All were daughters of Thaddeus Miller, of Glen Sutton, Quebec. Thaddeus married 3 times. I have a copy of Chester and Melvina's marriage record (photocopy of the town book page where their marriage is recorded) of their marriage at Troy, Vermont. You and I would be distant cousins, and actually from two lines. I also have a cousin, Sally, who is a descendant of Jonathan Tracy via his daughter, Emma Tracy that married Joel McNall. She lives in Maine. There is a story about one of Jonathan's daughters (Henrietta-?) taking in a child that wasn't hers and raising him as her own. He only found out about her not being his mother after her death, by what was said in her will/estate. I have William Tracy's obituary. It lists his brother, Jonathan, who I think came to the funeral (have to dig it out and see). William died 29 April 1908, at Johnson, Vermont. He is buried there, in Johnson, in the family plot. I have a family photo of William, Lucinda, and their 7 children. There is one woman sitting next to Lucinda that my family cannot identify who she is. I thought maybe she might be a sister to Lucinda--but who knows. We do not have any information on Lucinda's family (Brown) to know if she had siblings, where her parents lived, died, buried, etc. I have my great grandmother Carrie (Tracy) Smalley's DAR papers. The patriot ancestor is John Adams of Medway, Mass. This is the same line of Adams that connects to the president, John Adams, via the common ancestory, Henry Adams. This is via Matilda Adams, mother of Daniel Tracy. I won't keep rambling on....I have done a lot of research on these branches. Interesting...... --------------------------------- Don't be flakey.
