There was a Mary Ann Tracey of Sheldon, VT who married Charles Hamilton McGowan, of Sheldon, VT, 25 May 1876 at Sutton Methodist. Maybe relatives were listed on the record? You still have a day or so to check those records on Ancestry before they go to paid subscriber only. If both were of Sheldon, don't know why they married in Sutton unless family might have been there, most likely someone in her family. I assume when you checked VT records, you checked the master index for Tracey/Tracy (easier than Brown), and not just West Enosburg records? carollee reynolds <carollee57us@yahoo.com> wrote: Ohh Dear there are tons of Browns because of their Loyalist affiliation. I am related to your Tracy Line, there are alot of the Brown familys near Alburgh Vt try the Standbridge East Musuem or Marlene Simmons website. MK wrote: Hello, Is anyone researching BROWN located near the Vermont boarder? My ancestor was (Sarah) Lucinda BROWN. She married William H. TRACY, b. Sheldon, VT, son of Daniel TRACY and Hannah BURGESS. Lucinda BROWN is listed in the 1860 census at Enosburg, VT, living with her future husband's uncle, Hazen TRACY. William and Lucinda TRACY lived in Enosburg, Vermont, then moved to Belvidere, Vermont, and both died in Johnson, Vermont, and are buried there. Lucinda (BROWN) TRACY'S obituary says nothing about her parents. According to Lucinda (BROWN) TRACY's death record, her parents were William BROWN, b. Canada, and Jane FLEMING, b. England. Lucinda was born 12-25-1843 at Franklin, VT. I have tried to find her birth record with no luck. Lucinda's marriage record to William TRACY cannot be found either. William stated in his Civil War pension file papers that they were married October 11/12, 1861 at West Enosburg, Vermont. I cannot find William BROWN, b. Canada, with wife, Jane in the 1850 and later census. I am wondering if they went back and forth across the boarder and perhaps were in Canada when the census taker came by-----a theory. Just wish I knew where in Canada to look. I am guessing possibly close to Vermont, maybe near Franklin County, Vermont, where Lucinda seems to have been. ? REPLY: I will see if I can find Mary Ann Tracey's marriage record. I don't live in or near Vermont. The Vermont records were searched for me (I paid them to look for Lucinda's birth). Also, someone volunteered to check the LDS film for Sheldon, VT for me and could not find the marriage. Guess I can write to Public Records and see if they can locate their marriage. I would like to figure out what Canadian towns are just across the boarder from Sheldon, Enosburg, area. With the free access to the Drouin records I was hoping to find something.
