To all:- Transcribing of the 1911 Canada Census, released June 28, 2005 is coming along very well -- even though it seems as if some of the enumerators wrote with a piece of 2 x 4 lumber -- often too much ink and very often not enough. Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, NorthWest Territories and Yukon Territory (including Labrador) are 100%. Ontario was 91.46% earlier, followed by Manitoba at 77.14%, Quebec is 67.99%, Saskatchewan 47.28%; British Columbia 46.73% and Alberta 35.88% with overall percentage of Canada 76.66% Reading above, one can see where assistance is needed if only for one page or two -- these do not have to be claimed as long as we get that magic 50 (or more) beside the page. Good news -- Newfoundland became a province in 1949, and one of our committee members tells me there will be a 1911 census -- one only has to look in the next column after the age for the well-known NFLD.
