"The Hist. of Stanstead Co" does give the parents of Squire as Caleb and Jemima. However, the "Howe Gen." gives Jonas and Sarah (Wheeler) Howe as his parents. I also have a note that the Plainfield, CT VR's 2:22 show him as a son of Jonas and Sarah. Squire's wife, Phebe, is called both Pierce and Paine. The Plainfield Congr. Ch. rec. give her name as Pierce. The "Wheeler Gen." p. 553 (by A.G. Wheeler), say her name was Paine. Hope this doesn't confuse the issue to much for you as it has for me :).
