Hello, I'm researching my maternal side of the family which leads me to the anglo part of Montreal post 1900. My great grandfather, Charles Wallett Goodale was born the 10th of April 1868 in Toxteth Park, Lancaster County England. He emigrated to Quebec in 1888 presumably to get settled because in 1890 he ventured back to England where he married on January 5 1891, Alice Critchley, my great-grandmother. Then he came back to Quebec but this time with his wife, father and some siblings. All 10 children born to this couple were born in Quebec, but I don't know where. The youngest, Edith Priscilla, my grandmother was born in 1904 and died in 1955 in Montreal from Cervical Cancer. She is buried in Montreal Memorial Park Cemetery beside her sister Edith and her father Charles were Salvation Army Officers. This is where I lose my family. I can't find any information on them anywhere except the 1901 and 1911 Census'. Any help or direction on where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance Joanne
Have you checked the cemetery records. I checked the office of Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa and found their records to be very complete and a treadure trove of information. Hi Joanne, Have you tried the Quebec Family History Society? They are located in Pointe Claire (just outside of Montreal) and have a wealth of information, cemeteries, census records, etc. You can check them out at: www.qfhs.ca If they can't help you, they probably can refer you elsewhere.
