    3. James, there was a 1891 census of Canada and Stanbridge is on microfilm reel T-6404 assuming you have access to borrowing through ILL or other means. You might also contact the Missisquoi Museum in Stanbridge East QC http://www.museemissisquoi.ca/a7.html. Judy Antle is the Archivist and she may be able to point you in the right direction. Judy Antle <jantle@museemissisquoi.ca>. Good luck, Keith. In Canadian Census of 1881(aged 1) she lived in Stanbridge, Missisquoi, with other members of family Edward GILIGAN(56 - her Grandfather?),Ester GILIGAN (34 -her Stepgrandmother?),Mary GILIGAN (28 -her Mother?), also Edward GILIGAN (13- relationship unknown) and Eddy I GILIGAN (11-relationship unknown). Anyone - anywhere - known anything of the family? They are a complete mystery! > > Was there an 1891 Canadian Census? I have checked the 1901 an 1911 Census but the family appear to have totally disappeared except, of course for my Grandmother - Mabel Grace Giligan - who lived to a ripe old age of 86 in Scotland. > > Any info/assistance would be gratefully received. > Many thanks. > Jim Gray > > -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. Another possibility is the name Gillilan or Gilland. I follow a family from Stanbridge that married someone with the surname recorded as Gillilan and Gilland in Franklin County. I have long suspected that she might really have been a Gilligan, simply because of the similarity of sounds. Its a long shot but relax the spelling constraint and someone might show up. > > James Gray wrote: > > This is my second posting re GILIGAN family so forgive me!! > > > > My Grandmother - MABEL GRACE GILIGAN - emigrated from Quebec to > Scotland as a 14 year nursemaid in 1894/95 .
