Thirty-two of these atlases were produced for Ontario by the following five companies: H. Belden & Co. (17); H.R. Page & Co. (8); Walker & Miles (5); J.H. Meacham & Co. (1); H. Parsell (1). Two types of county atlases exist for Ontario, those which covered a single county or multiple adjacent counties, and those which were published as supplements to Dominion of Canada atlases. Colin The McGill University Library has digitally copied 43 Ontario County atlases that were produced between 1874 and 1881. They are available at http://digital.library.mcgill.ca/CountyAtlas/default.htm The property owner names are shown and have been indexed by McGill with links to a map, so this site is extremely handy. The maps are a little hard to study on a computer screen but most Ontario libraries have reprints that were done 30 years ago and you can photocopy 8.5 x 14 sections usually. There are introductory texts that are informative and that mention individuals who paid a special fee.
