Hi Ned, I have Johnsons who lived in Dunham in about the 1830s and later in Granby, Shefford (now Brome). I believe the parents were originally from U.S. and may have been Loyalists. Does this ring a bell? Priscilla Scudder
My husband Ned helps me with my family history and so either one of us may send emails. I appreciate you answering my query. We believe Samuel Johnson was of Stanbridge, but is buried in Dunham. (Someone just answered and said that Samuel was buried by his wife Sarah in the Bates cemetery.) Right now we know the following children: Layfayette, b 1830, of Stanbridge, md, Mary Williams, Lemuel, b 1833, Sutton, md Altha Marcia Smead, Seneca Paige, b 1836, Dunham, md Anne Marie Wilson, Climena , b 1843, of Stanbridge, md James Bates. We feel Samuel was born in Vermont and more than likely a loyalist. We are putting together a lot of the Bates family also. Thanks for any help.
