This afternoon I received a communication that indicated that the report of the Expert Panel on release of Historic Census records will be presented "SHORTLY" rather than waiting until the mandated date of 31 May 2000. I have sent an e-mail to Dr. Pamela White, secretariat of the Expert Panel, expressing concern that if this is so, many submissions that have not yet been sent, including my own, would not be received and considered by the Panel. The original deadline for submissions, as given me by Dr. White, was 1 May 2000. I have asked Dr. White to respond IMMEDIATELY advising as to the current status regarding presentation of the report of the Expert Panel. I will advise her response. If there has been no email response from her by morning I will be telephoning her. The upshot of all this is, if you have not yet sent your submission to the Expert Panel, DO IT NOW!!! Gordon A.
