Greetings All! I had always known that the National Archives had ships documents starting from 1865, but for those families that arrived prior to that year, can somebody tell us where we would start searching?? I know the name of the ship, date of departure, date of arrival and port of arrival and I still have had no luck for the year of 1817. The Archives address this topic at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy/022-908.002-e.html but the opening statement is not encouraging: "There are no comprehensive nominal lists of immigrants arriving in Canada before 1865. Few such lists have survived." But they do list some good sources for some information of pre-1865 immigration. In addition, http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/onlinelists.html and http://olivetreegenealogy.com/index.shtml have sections on early Canadian immigration.
