    3. Hi, Specifically any information pertaining to - Pickle (el) Loyalist and Kings Ranger - John Pickel b.abt. 1740 in Ny / Hudson River Valley area. On Aug. 31, 1802, John Pickle was granted 200 acres of land in Brome township, county of Brome. (Son Jacob b.1757 in Claverack, NY, settled in Brome Qc. - Jacob is my direct ancestor, buried in Cowansville, Qc) There is no trace of John Pickle, however, Church - Did John Pickle marry a Catherine Church? As written on the gravestone, there is a 'Catherine', ' wife of John Pickle' buried in the Eastern Townships, Brome area. John Church and Tryphena Church Shufelt witnessed the burial of Catherine, widow of John Pickle on Feb. 21, 1822. It is for this reason that we believe her last name may be 'Church'. As well - Amy Church b. 1786 married John's son Peter Pickle (Peter came from Caldwell's manor, then settled in Dunham in 1804.) Amy was, i believe, the daughter of John Church - Churchville was named for John Church .He built a log cabin in 'Churchville' in 1799. About 17 years later he built the Church Inn, now vanished. John had been a soldier in the loyalist Corps that joined Burgoyne's Army during the Rev. War. Brill / Stone / Duboyse- 'Captain' John Brill. Two Brill brothers: Early settlers Brome/ Bolton Qc. There was a John BRILL from Fishkill,NY who settled about 1800 in this town West Bolton, Que. Also, J.S. BRILL is mentioned as well. I believe that was his son. William BRILL, Grantee in Bolton Twnshp. arrived in 1807 and lived to age 77. He died in 1854. William had 2 daughters, one, Eleanor Brill b. 1808, married a Franklin STONE and lived there in Bolton. Hannagh Barbara Brill, daughter of John Brill, married Martin Duboyce b. 1801. They settled in Brome Qc. Duboyce from Rhode island? Cowan - Peter Cowan came from Montreal in 1836. Migrated from Scotland as a youth. He was postmaster and sherrif of District of Bedford. Distiquished Military service, a prominaent citizen in the area. Brother Andrew.
