Surnames: CARR/KERR, DOVELIN/DEVLIN, DUSSAULT, TRASK, STEVENS, FARLEY, VIENS, MCCORMICK, BIRNEY, ATKINSON, KELLET, JARDINIER, RIORDAN, AYLMER, MAGOON, BROOKS, HUSK, SCOTT, GRENIER, MAHER ************** Arthur J. (Joseph?) CARR was born in 1788 or 1789, since his gravestone at St-Anne-de-Danville, Richmond, Quebec, stated he was 77 years old when he died on 24 JAN 1866. ************** This date of birth would make it possible that the Daniel CARR found in the following record, might possibly be Arthur CARR's father, but that has yet to be proven or disproven: War Office Records: Returns of Detachments & Companies of the KINGS RANGERS & LOYAL RANGERS Stationed in Lower Canada (Quebec) CARR, Daniel Age: 29 Date Discharged: 1783 Country of Origin: Ireland *************** From the index of marriages of St-Francois-du-Lac, Yamaska, Quebec (1687-1965): CARR, Arthur (written Erther KERR) married Marie Louise DUSSAULT on 23 OCT 1823. Bride's parents: Jean Baptiste DUSSAULT and Marguerite GRENIER. Groom's parents: Daniel CARR (written Daniel KERR/indexed David KERR) and Sara DOVELIN of County Derry, Ireland. Groom's witnesses: William MAHER and Richard MAHER. ********************** From the index of marriages of St-Francois-du-Lac (1687-1965), I know that Arthur CARR had a sister: CARR, Margaret (written Marguerite CAR) married Joseph VIENS, widower of St-Michel-de-Yamaska, 15 MAY 1827. Brides' parents: Daniel CARR (written Daniel CAR/indexed Carmel CAR) and Sara DOVELAN of County Kerry, Ireland. (There is a conflict between Margaret's and Arthur's marriage records concerning their parents place of origin. I assume that the priest was French and the Irish accent was misunderstood, but I still don't know which is the correct county of origin.) ************************* Five children of Arthur CARR (written KERR) and Marie Louise DUSSAULT were baptized Catholic in the parish of St-Francois-du-Lac, Yamaska, Quebec, between 1823 and 1831: CARR, Rose b. 4 APR 1824 CARR, Catherine b. 11 OCT 1825 - d. 14 OCT 1825 CARR, Daniel b. 4 SEPT 1826 CARR, Arthur b. 21 DEC 1828 CARR, Marie Sara b. 20 FEB 1831 *********************** There were at least two other sons as indicated by the marriage records of St-Pierre-du-Durham, Richmond, Quebec, which listed Arthur CARR (written KARR and KAN) and Marie Louise DUSSAULT of Danville as the parents of the groom: CARR (indexed as KAN), Charles married Louise JARDINIER on 20 AUG 1856. CARR (indexed as KAN), Charles, widower, married Judith RIORDAN, daughter of Timothy RIORDAN and Bridget NOLAN of Ireland, 10 JAN 1859. CARR (indexed as KARR), Louis married Catherine ALYMER 22 NOV 1859. ********************* Marie Sara CARR (indexed Sara KERR), daughter of Arthur CARR and Marie Louise DUSSAULT married James KELLET, son of John KELLET and Bridget BRADY, on 20 NOV 1848, at St-Frederick's, Drummondville, Drummond County, Quebec. ********************** CARR, Rose, daughter of Arthur CARR and Marie Louise DUSSAULT, I believed married a man with the surname BIRNEY, because Rose BIRNEY signed as the godmother of Mary CARR, daughter of the younger Arthur CARR and Nancy Agnes TRASK, on September 1858 in Durham, Drummond County, Quebec. ********************* CARR, Daniel, son of Arthur CARR and Marie Louise DUSSAULT, married Sarah J. ATKINSON in 1848 in Melbourne, Richmond County, Quebec. They had at least one son named Joseph. ********************* CARR, Arthur J. (Joseph?), the younger, married Nancy Agnes TRASK in August 1854. Record of marriage found in the registers of the Freewill Baptist Church of Melbourne, Richmond, Quebec. (This is my husband's line of CARR.) CARR (written KARR), Mary, was born in 1856 and baptized at St-Pierre-de-Durham, Drummond, Quebec, in September 1858. Daughter of Arthur CARR (written KARR) and Nancy Agnes TRASK. (All three of their children (Mary, James and William) were also baptised at the Freewill Baptist Church of Kingsey.) CARR, James William George, born in January 1861 in Durham, Drummond, Quebec. Son of Arthur J. CARR and Nancy Agnes TRASK. CARR, William George, born in January 1862 in Durham, Drummond, Quebec. Son of Arthur J. CARR and Nancy Agnes TRASK. His wife's name was Nancy Agnes TRASK. ********************** CARR, Emma Agnes, daughter of Nancy Agnes CARR, was born in Durham, Drummond, Quebec, in 1864 and adopted by Nancy's half-sister, Sarah Emaline HUSK BROOKS and her husband, James BROOKS in July 1867. CARR, Nancy Agnes TRASK, remarried in July 1867 to Samuel Collins MAGOON. (Emma was not Arthur's child since she was born two years after his death, but Nancy kept the girl until she three years old. When Nancy Trask CARR remarried she gave up Emma for adoption to her half sister the same day. I don't know who Emma's father was.) ********************** McCORMICK, Michael (widower of Maria CASSIDY) married Margaret CARR, sister of Arthur CARR (the elder), widow of Joseph VIENS, and daughter of Daniel CARR and Sara DOVELAN, at L'Avenir, Drummond, Quebec. in August 1851. **********************
