My Martin Line was very dark and always thought to be of Native Descent. Were there any Martin families in the Eastern Townships that had any history of Mohawk or Micmac descent. My Thomas Martin born around 1800 was married (1825) to Sarah Cummings b. 1802, Vermont, and their daughter Jane born 1826 had grandchildren that were very dark, family history from the States says that there was Native in the family from Quebec.
