    2. Is there anyone that has or does look-ups for cemetaries in these areas. It seems that much could be found if these cemetaries were transcribed by someone that is English speaking. We seem to go in circles.....need the birth or death date to get any records for Quebec and yet most of what is needed is in cemetaries that don't seem to have been transcribed. Am I missing something? I am sure that four families from Stanstead/RockIsland/Beebe and S.W. Ontario have been transported to Sherbrooke/Lennoxville for burial even as late as a year ago. Why is it so hard to locate this large group? Thanks for any suggestions. Gloria

    3. Hi ; It is just very hard getting any kind of record out of Quebec, my husband's family is from there and it is a struggle - there is the language barrier to begin with, and then on top of that is animosity toward the US. If the ancestor was B/M/D before abt. 1900, the only records kept were by a Church or a Clergyman, and if not a Catholic, they are practically impossible to find , because most Clergy back then were like Circuit Riders and kept a small journal ,.... Cemeteries are the same, they are mostly maintained by local people and no written records are readily available, they are kept in a home. The Historical Societies are a partial source, but are only open part-time . The Stanstead Historical Society has some records, from The Stanstead Journal , also a Marlene Simmons Website has data. If you go on Google and work it , there are sites , but not much in the way of actual records.
