Hello all, When I saw the helpful response earlier, I couldn't help but hope there might be some items for me for Adventist events, and also in Stanstead Co. I am looking for the surname BEARD/BAIRD and many of the census entries show them as Adventists. Although I have found the family in census records in Brome in the middle 1800's, I'm told there was a branch in Stanstead as well. Any listings for this surname would be most helpful - both Adventist records anywhere, and anything in Stanstead County. Thanks for any assistance. Karen

The majority of all church records are available in Canada from the Quebec National Archives and in the U.S.A. from any Latter Day Saints church with a genealogy library. These films are the copies of the original church records that were made by the churches and sent to the civil authority. One easy way to check what is available is to use the online LDS Catalogue. Taking Karen's search as an example: 1. Go to http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlc/frameset_fhlc.asp 2. Click "Author Search" 3. Type in "Adventist" and click "Search" 4. This will show a list of all films with Adventist records. Just read down for those in Quebec. I see the following: Adventist Church (Brookbury, Québec) Adventist Church (Coaticook, Québec) Adventist Church (Fitch Bay, Québec) Adventist Church (Pond District, Québec) Adventist Church (South-Barnston, Québec) Adventist Church (Ways-Mills, Québec) Seventh-Day Adventist Church (Shefford County, Québec) Seventh-Day Adventist Church (South Stukely, Québec) I believe these are the only Adventist ones available from this source. 5. Clicking on "Fitch Bay", as an example, shows two titles that match. 6. Clicking on 1856-1879 gives a more detailed description and presents a "View Film Notes" button. 7. Clicking on "View Film Notes" shows what the LDS film number is and also what items you need from that film. 8. A trick I find helpful is to copy or write down that film number. Click "Home" in the bottom border of the Catalogue page. Click "Film/Fiche Search". Paste or type in the film number you found earlier. Click "Search" and it will give you a listing of _ALL_ the items on that film. In this case there are four Adventist church record sets and some Anglican ones. This works equally well for any church (or anything else for that matter) although common ones like Methodist and Anglican are easier to find by using a "Place" search in step 2. There is no way that I know to tease out the original Quebec Archives film number from this data. However, as the LDS filmed these at the Quebec Archives, once you know that a film exists and what it contains it should be fairly simple to contact the Archives and request a film with that set of contents. Over time, I have made note of some of the cross references and you may find that helpful. It is far from complete. Below is a list of relevant film numbers for church records, mostly in Brome, Richlieu, Missiquoi and Shefford counties. It is not complete but I have cross referenced some of the LDS numbers to QA numbers. You might be able to extrapolate between these to guess at other QA numbers.
