Hi everyone: I've recently purchased a copy of the "Alphabetical Index to the Land Grants by the Crown In the Province of Quebec" for the letter D. I believe that I've found a reference to an ancestor, but I'm not sure how to interpret the information provided. Here's what it says in each of the columns: Name of grantees: Dalglish, the rep. of James Townships: Gore of Somerset Counties: M�gantic Acres: 100 Date of letters-patent: December 22 1870 Registered - Letter: 14 Page: 217 Page of the printed list: 613 I realize that I can write away for the original Letters Patent, but before I do I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect from it (them?) Does anyone know the current fee and the best way of going about getting this information? Also, I'm curious to know what "Gore of Somerset" means. There is also a township called "Somerset" listed.
