Hello Listers, I have been helping my wife search for her BERRY forebears in Shefford County, Quebec. Our information is very sketchy, and we could use your help in filling in many blanks. This is what we know: 1. My wife's great- great- grandfather was named (Samuel?) BERRY. He married a woman with surname CHURCH, first name unknown. 2. (Samuel?) BERRY was born in New Hampshire.. 3. (Samuel?) BERRY and __CHURCH were married, probably in Shefford County, Quebec, in the 1830's. 4. They had two, possibly three children, believed born in Waterloo, Shefford County, Quebec. The first was Harriet M. BERRY, born 1842, in Waterloo. The second was A. Dorwin BERRY, born 1846, probably in Waterloo. A third child might have been a (Samuel) BERRY, Jr., probably born in Waterloo also. 5. A sister of the CHURCH woman who married (Samuel?) BERRY was named Cecilia Wells CHURCH. Cecilia was born in 1814 in Waterloo, and married a George Herbert RICHARDSON in Shefford County, Quebec in 1838. George was born in New Hampshire in 1816. 6. George and Cecilia CHURCH RICHARDSON relocated in 1852 to Ogle County, Illinois. We believe Harriet M. BERRY and A. Dorwin BERRY accompanied George and Cecilia to Illinois at this time, based on Ogle County, Illinois, and other records. We have the feeling that one or both parents of Harriet M. and A. Dorwin BERRY might have died before 1852, and that George and Cecilia took over their care. We have hit a very solid, brick wall regarding this BERRY-CHURCH family in Quebec, and would welcome any information or possible leads. Thanks. Regards, Ken Shute, in Maryland (kwsroots@aol.com).
