Beth, Noticed that you have a Benoni. I've heard that name was used for a son if his father died shortly after his birth which can be a helpful clue sometimes. Had always wondered about mine as it sounded Italian to me. My Perry's that were born in VT had originally been Pare (with the french accent on E) coming down from Quebec and given English spelling by Census taker I guess. Mine contunued down to Mass. and later generations never knew of the French origin. So I guess our Perry's went in opposite directions.
