Hi everyone, My name is Holly Forgue, from Blue Island, Illinois, and I'm new to this list. My ancestors were originally from England and were in Quebec before going to Ontario. (Perhaps called Upper Canada at that time). I don't have a "clue" as to how to research my English Ancestors in Quebec (or Lower Canada), so I'm glad to find this list. BULL , Henry b. 1796, Yorkshire, England, (but not confirmed) d. 16 June, 1870, Bellevile, Ontario, Canada. m. Madeline DeMontfort. Henry Bull owned a wholesale store in Quebec called "Bull's". He lost it by fire, rebuilt and then lost for financial reasons. Sometime afterwards they moved to Belleville & Madoc, Ontario. (I believe he had married Madeline De Montfort in Quebec.) He was Anglican, she was Catholic and of French descent. They probably were married in the Anglican Church. Their Children: Caroline, George, Maud, Samuel, Sarah, Henry, John. - --------------------------------------------------- AGAR, Thomas Stodhart m. WATERS, Hannah (He was the accountant for Bull's Wholesale Store and also moved to Belleville/Madoc, Ontario. His daughter Sarah Agar, my gr.- gr. grandmother, married Henry Bull's son, John Bull Sr. my gr.- gr. grandfather.) Their Children: Stodhart (d. 8 Aug 1862), Sarah (m. BULL, John Sr.), Bertha (m. Fitzgerald, James), Isabel (m. (1)Forneri, C.C. (2) Dr. Seager, dentist), Elizabeth, (m. DEUS, James.). Main goals: Finding Madeline DeMontfort's parents (supposedly descended from the Duke of Normandy), finding some record of these families in Lower Canada, pinpointing or confirming where Henry Bull was from in England. (There may be some record of this in Quebec Church records) Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
