I am just starting my research in the eastern townships and was thinking of making a trip to Sherbrooke. Does the genealogical society or the public archives there have any records in english? I am interested in the period from 1840 to 1890 and am seeking information on Horace Wilson who arrived in Sherbrooke in approximately 1840 and is indentified only as an american. He was a successful businessman and reportedly was a member of the town council for several years.His son,Horace,jr.,was elected mayor of Winnipeg in 1900.
