Hi Regi - I think your NORTON married into my hubby's BUZZELL, early-on. My hubby's mother was DOLLY SARAH BUZZELL, her father was CEPHAS BUZZELL, of Tomophobia and the Bissel neighborhood, Brown's Hill area near Fitch Bay... his family originally was in the area west of the Lake and NORTON went there abt. the same time around 1800 or so..... I remember you helped me a few years back when I first started Genealogy, for which I am most appreciative...... Thanks, Sally Dutton
would this include any info form Megantic / Inverness area? ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.

My relative, George Cornish Wilcocks, was an editor of the Granby Leader Newspaper (1890s). He had many links to Richmond & Drummond Counties, E.T. These counties were not mentioned at your site, and I wonder if possibly they are included in your transcriptions. Hi Regi, Norton is my married name and my husband's Nortons came to Canada in the early 1920's from England and settled in Ontario - sorry to disappoint but not connected to the ET Nortons. Have you checked the cemetery records. I checked the office of Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa and found their records to be very complete and a treadure trove of information. Hello, I'm researching my maternal side of the family which leads me to the anglo part of Montreal post 1900. My great grandfather, Charles Wallett Goodale was born the 10th of April 1868 in Toxteth Park, Lancaster County England. He emigrated to Quebec in 1888 presumably to get settled because in 1890 he ventured back to England where he married on January 5 1891, Alice Critchley, my great-grandmother. Then he came back to Quebec but this time with his wife, father and some siblings. All 10 children born to this couple were born in Quebec, but I don't know where. The youngest, Edith Priscilla, my grandmother was born in 1904 and died in 1955 in Montreal from Cervical Cancer. She is buried in Montreal Memorial Park Cemetery beside her sister Edith and her father Charles were Salvation Army Officers. This is where I lose my family. I can't find any information on them anywhere except the 1901 and 1911 Census'. Any help or direction on where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance Joanne
In French, double barreled names and place names use a hyphen, for example, names like Jean-Michel or Marie-Claire or places like St-Jean-sur-Richelieu or Salaberry-Valleyfield which are both near Montreal. ----- Original Message ----- From: "J & L Kinnear" <jklk@sympatico.ca> To: "iransom" <iransom@snet.net>; <qc-etanglo@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2007 7:47 AM Subject: Re: [QC-ETANGLO] St-Jean-Port-Joli, L'Islet, Quebec, Canada >I think you have it right - St. Jean Port Joli is the town, in the >county of L'Islet. I think you have it right - St. Jean Port Joli is the town, in the county of L'Islet. It is located a few miles down the St. Lawrence River, from Quebec City, on the south shore. There is also a town by the name of L'Islet. Many towns in Quebec are named after saints, and the further addition of "Port Joli" identifies it exactly.
