    3. Annals Of Megantic, by Dugald McKillop is the classic for Inverness. First printed in 1902, and since reprinted, is a series of anecdotes, written I believe in the late 1890's, and covering the first settlers in the region. It starts with the arrival of the first groups from Scotland in 1829. Essential for anyone following the lives of these first immigants. Copies available. 3. Greetings All, I didn't buy Sharon's book but did get a complimentary copy as I had given her some help along the way. Yes the book is a tall one, done like mine in a 8.5"x14 coil bound book. By doing it in a landscape fashion you can literally pack the excel tables full of information. Not only does she look at B,M,D, but event place, age at the time of event, parents, spouses, date of issue and any additional tidbits of information that you can list in a excel cell. That's alot of information! But what I found most important is the Issue Date, this will tell you were to find the information to get a printed copy for yourself. Genealogy isn't about transcribed tables but finding the tools to aid in obtaining that newspaper article, obituary, thank you notice, or legal notice in the back of the newspaper. This is what puts "meat" on the bones of those ancestors we are researching. This listed index incompasses the first 47 pages of the book. The second part of the book is 90 pages long and includes full articles and biographies of people as they had originally appeared in the newspapers of the day. Sharon, I was blown away when I saw this. You never -----Original Message----- From: qc-etanglo-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:qc-etanglo-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of P. 3. Does anyone have confirmation of a birth record for Archibald Clifford Walker? His marriage record to Julia Elfleda MOSHER in 1883 lists his parents as John Walker and Mary C. Clifford and place of birth as Barnston, Stanstead. DOB may be about August 1860. If anyone has marriage info on John WALKER and Mary C. CLIFFORD, that would also be greatly appreciated. (It is possible that Mary's middle initial stands for Celestia; would like to pin that down as well, if at all possible.) Many thanks in advance! Mary

    3. This is a handy list, Pennie. Thanks. Have some of them and have heard of most but not all. Sharon Norton's book is on my list of books to buy (hopefully next pay day). We have sun here this morning!!! It's rained solid for two days. I was beginning to wonder if I should check whether there were any arks available. I think it was yesterday that we broke the "most rainfall in a day" record that was set only three years ago when the entire province flooded. Doesn't bode well, does it? And it was cold - felt more like fall than spring. We're supposed to go up to +12 this afternoon, then around +18/20 for Sunday and Monday, then back down to around +12. As long as it doesn't rain for a few days, that's okay. My sister and her husband are in Italy for a month. Apparently, yesterday they met up with my niece in Rome. She's working in Ireland for four months, then will tour around Europe for two months before coming home (to Ontario). At least that was still the plan when she left in January. Her working visa is for a year though so if she has the travelling bug and doesn't get too homesick, she may change her mind. Good time to do it. Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: "P. 3. Hello, I have the original letter written in 1828 to the widow of Henry Mounsey by her brother-in-law Thomas Mounsey from Charleston extending his condolences to her. (I am still looking for a record with his wife's name on it.) I have a copy of the deed for the land he bought in 1795 in Mississquoi. In the letter, Thomas refers to his brother having "died in Quebec". Because of the time frame, would that mean Quebec City? Henry had been appointed a Justice of the Peace in 1808 in the Mississquoi area so I gather he was a man of some importance. Also, I have copies of some of the claims that were heard by him which were made after the War of 1812-14. (LDS Library, Salt Lake City). I am wondering where to look for an obituary for him. Would there be one in a local newspaper from Quebec City? If he died in Quebec City, would the body be transported back to the Mississquoi/St. John area for burial? Any suggestions about where to look for more information would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Gail Beal gailbeal@vif.com
